Gather these before storm season, a move or a closing. Keep originals or copies in your Go-Bag and a scan in the cloud. To keep a copy, print this page or save it as a PDF from your browser's print menu.
- Home: deed or lease, mortgage statement and servicer phone, homeowners, windstorm and flood policies, HOA contacts, your home inventory with photos, repair receipts and warranties.
- Identity: driver's licenses or IDs, passports, birth certificates, Social Security cards, marriage, divorce or custody papers, citizenship or residency papers.
- Money: bank and card contacts (last four digits only), your latest tax return, cash in small bills, a list of automatic payments.
- Health: insurance cards, a medication list with doses, doctor and pharmacy phones, vaccination records for kids and pets.
- Vehicles: titles, registrations, auto insurance cards.
- Legal: copies of wills, powers of attorney and health care directives (ask your attorney where the originals should live).
- Contacts: a printed list of family, an out-of-state contact, insurer claim lines, your HOA or landlord, your employer.
- Digital: a USB drive with photos of every room and scans of the papers above.
Review it every May, before hurricane season starts June 1.
